This Womans Work – Maxwell

I’ve shared a song in a post once before by Kate Bush last year in June, but this time it’s a cover of her original enchanting 80’s song This Woman’s Work by Maxwell.  I would never have thought this song would work with a man singing those lyrics, but it really does, I’m glad I found it!  If you want to see Kate Bush singing her original version you can find it here.

    1. I’d never heard of him before I found this track – I’m a bit slow on music sometimes! 🙂 I like spreading the good music – I shall certainly keep spreading it!! 😀

  2. Maxwell’s singing is haunting, filled with regret. Beautiful. His sinking feeling, the realization that things cannot be undone comes thru crystal clear. Thank you for sharing, Suzy.

    1. It is a wonderful song, emotional but quite gentle! He does have an amazing range to his voice, especially for a man. He reminds me of some of the pop stars of the 70’s, there were lot of male singers reaching a high pitch like that. I’m glad you liked it! 🙂

    1. I wondered if you might like this Alisha! 😀 It was a lucky find, as they often are! I only recently discovered the Kate Bush video of this song, I remember the song from the late 80’s, but not the video for some reason. I thought both Kate’s and Maxwell’s videos were good, but I preferred Maxwell’s because it was more up to date, a man singing about a woman, and also has a bit of a 70’s look too, which I thought went well with the Charles Bukowski post. I’m very pleased you looooooved it, I do tooooooo!!! 😀

      1. Kmsl… Yes Indeed Ms Suzy!! I looooved it!! I have Maxwell in heavy rotation on my phone. I’m so glad you liked it. He has another song you may like called, “Whenever, Wherever, Whatever”. I think you would love. I agree, They did mesh very well together. I’m going to find Kate Bush’s version. I’d like to listen to it. I bet she sounds just as lovely. 🙂 🙂

        1. Oh yes, that is a lovely song – very floaty!♥ Reminds me a little bit of Michael Jackson’s One Day In Your Life. That’s a Sunday relaxation song!! 🙂

          1. Lol I agree totally. That’s why I love Maxwell. Just Lay back and relax, meditate or just be. It does put you in the mind of a Michael Jackson’s Song. Think I’ll listen to a song or two of his now!! 🙂

  3. His voice is incredible through out the song. I like that he can sing high pitch (woman like) and brings back to lower tone (man voice) for certain parts of the song. Nice!

    1. He has got an incredible voice! The way he sings in this video, and even the way he looks reminds me of some really famous pop stars of the 1970’s. He has got an amazing vocal range, especially for a man! It’s emotional, but a nice gentle song – I’m glad you liked it! 🙂
